ML - Drivel

Flashback to my first year at university, and we were all encouraged to set up a blog to show off our writing skills. My blog has to be described as 'infrequent' at best, but I kind of like it this way. Posts only come about when there's something that worth writing about. I'm not going to write drivel, because nobody wants to read drivel, and I don't want to write drivel.

This blog is meant to be a showcase of my writing qualities. I could quite easily write a post every day about how i've eaten a sausage roll today, but who wants to read that? I guess my general feelings towards my blog is that it's 'quality' and not 'quantity'. When I walk into a job interview, I want to showcase some excellent writing, rather than a story about how I ate a sausage roll a few years ago.

Also, reading back at my posts, I do notice that there are some slight typing errors or a few grammatical errors but my reasoning for this is that I try to type everything on the first copy and refuse to go back and change. I want to get into the habit of being a really good writer, and going back and correcting mistakes is something that you can't really do in the industry. So, if I can start getting it right first time, then, it sets me up in good stead for the future.

If you're currently in the thought process of setting up a blog, then think about your target audience. If you want to post every day, then go for it. I'm not going to stop you, but I probably won't read it either. Your blog isn't about the number of page views you receive, or the amount of money you receive from it, it's the editorial content that matters.
